The Chief Information Officer of the Internal Revenue Service has announced his decision to leave on April 1. This follows Sally Katzen's resignation in late January.

Gross was the man who posted the crucial IRS document last May on the need to bring in outside private contractors to take over the IRS's computer system.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Arthur Gross, the IRS official heading efforts to update the agency's outmoded computer systems, plans to leave the agency this spring. . . .

He announced his plans to resign Tuesday. . . .

Gross, who plans to leave April 1, was known for his candor and outside technological expertise. Rep. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, who led a commission on restructuring the IRS, said Gross "led the Perestroika movement at the IRS."
