Subject: Re: Traffic Light systems: Compliance

I conducted an assessment of the Department of Transportation for the State of Georgia. During this assessment several risks were raised to include the traffic lights, weigh stations, and other type of embedded systems.

Traffic lights are date dependent. The systems investigated in Georgia, are operated by OTS software which are provided under contract by multiple vendors. There are five predominate ones in the State; however, there are many others. The reason traffic lights are date dependent rests with frequency and maintenance. There have not been any tests run to date, as far as I am aware, that would determine the impact of the traffic lights. I believe they would cease to function. The respective vendors have assured an upgrade will be provided.
