Like the Gartner Group's estimate of $300 billion to $600 billion to do the repairs, so is the $1 trillion estimate of litigation costs. But this is for the United States only. Gartner's is for the whole world. In other words, the cost of litigation in the U.S. is estimated to be three times the cost of repair in the U.S. (REUTERS, June 19)

Coinsider: What are the costs if y2k doesn't get fixed? That number is too large to calculate. The best you can say is that you can subtract from the total $1 trillion.
