Almost half of public and private sector organisations have yet to put a formal year 2000 programme in place, according to PA Consulting Group. The management consultancy interviewed 1,000 firms in 15 countries for the survey.

It found that only 55% of senior managers are fully aware of the implications, with the figure for continental Europe lower at 49%.
