Over 80% of All Software Development Projects Are Late

Comment:

In LAN Times (April 29, 1996), p. 52, an article on software development trends appeared. It reported on a study by the Standish Group International. Only 16.2% of all corporate software-development projects are completed on time. Those completed on time are rarely under budget. Worse, "only 61 percent of the originally specified functionality is delivered." The cost overrun averaged 189%.
