The Gartner Group has estimated that 50 million embedded chip system devices will exhibit anomalies in 2000. Fewer than 5% of the firms that are even aware of this issue have investigated it sufficiently to provide a quantitative assessment of its impact. As for the rest...?

Microprocressor equipment that is connected to corporate mainframes. "The year 2000 date problem can be exported or imported via such links."

Process control and monitoring systems.
