TECH WIRE (Sept. 15) reports that the Office of Management and Budget has sent a report to Congress saying that the U.S. government is falling behind in its mission-critical y2k repairs.

The U.S. House Subcommittee on Government Management, Information, and Technology, meanwhile, released grades Monday measuring the progress of major departments in addressing the problem. It found that nearly half of the 24 federal departments assessed were failing and "in trouble."
